COBLESKILL, NY. – Junior
John Ryan (Warminster, PA) put up a season high 16 points, but the Penn State Abington men's basketball team fell to SUNY Cobleskill 87-67 on Sunday afternoon. After the loss the Nittany Lions fall to 11-12 overall and 8-6 in the conference.
Ryan's 16 points led the Nittany Lions in scoring, and right behind
Jay Fitzgerald (Philadelphia, PA) finished with 15 points. On the boards senior
Jordan Lomax (West Haven, CT) pulled in 11 rebounds.
The Fighting Tigers started the game making six buckets without missing a shot from the floor, on their way to a 14-7 lead. Ryan drained a three ball to cut the deficit, but Cobleskill would go on to push the lead to double-digits only minutes later.  Fitzgerald hit his three pointer to cut the lead, and
Charles Ervin (Quakertown, PA) took a fast break bucket to bring the Nittany Lions within eight. Abington couldn't build momentum and went into the break down 40-29.
Abington struggled to make a comeback shooting 39 percent from the field, while the Fighting Tigers stayed hot shooting 53 percent. The hosts kept the Nittany Lions from making a run and finished the game on top.
Abington will return home to host a critical game against the College of Saint Elizabeth on Wednesday night at 6:00 p.m.
