ABINGTON, PA. – The Penn State Abington women's lacrosse team hosted Rutgers-Camden for their annual Pink Game, but the Nittany Lions fell to the visitors 20-9 on Thursday evening. After the loss the Nittany Lions fall to 0-3 for the year.
Senior
Melissa Felicetti (Willow Grove, PA)led the way for the Nittany Lions with three goals in the game and added two assists for the game. Despite the loss freshman Goalkeeper
Cheyanne Grumm (Upper Moreland, PA)Â faced almost 40 shots but was able to make 12 saves in the game.
The Scarlet Raptors were first on the board after a minute of play, but junior
Jillian Stokes (Mayfair, PA) tied the game with her free position shot. Rutgers Camden followed suit by going on a 4-0 run before sophomore
Kiera O'Keeffe (Yardley, PA)Â broke the streak with her goal that was assisted by Felicetti. The visitors went on another run to push their lead to 8-2 but were stopped again by another goal from O'Keeffe. Abington ended the half strong scoring three goals to cut the lead down 11-6 at the break. Rutgers Camden continued to press the Nittany Lions and pushed their lead to double digits. Abington tried to claw its way back into the game with goals from
Alynn Phelan (Philadelphia, PA) and
Lauren O'Keeffe (Yardley, PA) but fell short of their goal.
Abington will look to rebound when they travel to Rosemont College next Tuesday night at 7:00 p.m.
