Nittany Lions Split NEAC Double Header with SUNY Poly

UTICA, NY- The Penn State Abington softball team split a pair of North Eastern Athletic Conference games with SUNY Poly on Sunday. The Nittany Lions are now 8-4 in conference, and 13-18 overall.

In game one, Abington picked up a 2-1 win over the Wildcats. A fourth inning rally allowed Abington to score their two and only runs of the day. It started with back to back singles from Stephanie Andreoli (Richboro, PA) and Mary Kate Smith (Springfield, PA). The Wildcats then had two back to back infield errors that allowed Andreoli to score. Jackie McMenamin (Oreland, PA) added one more run to Abington's lead with a RBI sac fly to right field that scored Smith.

The Nittany Lions struggled offensively in game two by only producing five hits and leaving six runners left on base. SUNY Poly smacked a two run home run in the bottom of the fourth inning to secure the 4-0 win.

Abington will host the College of Saint Elizabeth on Saturday April 20th for a 1:00pm double header.
