ABINGTON, PA.- The Penn State Abington men's tennis team picked up a crucial 7-2 victory against the reigning NEAC champs, Penn State Berks on Friday afternoon.Â
Abington took two of the three doubles competitions to jump out to a 2-1 lead. The No. 2 team of
Ilker Erkut (Philadelphia, PA) and
Jose Palomeque (Upper Dublin, PA)Â won their match by an 8-2 margin, while
Philip Belotserkovsky (Warminster, PA) and
Sebastian Krysztofowicz (Doylestown, PA)Â were 8-2 winners at the third flight.Â
In singles play, junior
Michael Litz (Huntingdon Valley, PA)Â claimed the No. 1 flight by a 6-3, 6-2 margin and teammate
Ilker Erkut won by a similar score at No. 2 6-4, 6-3. Abington also won at No. 4 singles with Phil Belotserkovsky, No. 5 singles played by
Jose Palomeque, and finishing No. 6 singles with a 6-2, 6-2 victory was
Adam Moskal (Philadelphia, PA).
The Nittany Lions finish the regular season 7-6 overall and 2-2 in the NEAC. Abington concludes their regular season and will compete at the North Eastern Athletic Conference Tournament, being held in Clarks Summit, PA on Thursday April 25.Â
