Women's Lacrosse Falls to LBC

ABINGTON, PA. – The Penn State Abington women's lacrosse team hosted Lancaster Bible, but the Chargers came away with a 17-6 win on Saturday afternoon. After the loss the Nittany Lions fall to 1-9 and 0-3 in the North Eastern Athletic Conference.

Kiera O'Keeffe (Yardley, PA) led the Nittany Lions attack with three goals while her sister Lauren Lauren O'Keeffe (Yardley, PA) chipped in two assists in the game.

After a stalemate for the first minutes of action the Chargers were first on the board, but sophomore Kelly Martin (Warrington, PA) netted her first career goal to tie the game 1-1.  Again Lancaster Bible's Hannah Thompson scored with just under 20 minutes left in the half to give the Chargers back the lead. Kiera O'Keeffe pushed the Nittany Lions into the lead with consecutive goals. A four goal run for the Chargers put them back in the driver's seat up 6-3 with six minutes remaining. Abington rallied in the final minutes with a pair of goals from Lillian Diesh (San Carlos, CA) to bring the Nittany Lions within one point. Before the break the Chargers scored with only a minute left to shift momentum in their favor.

In the second half the Chargers took control of the game with a seven goal run which was too much for the Nittany Lions to overcome.

Abington will look to rebound when they host Hilbert College next Saturday afternoon at 1:00 p.m.
