ABINGTON, PA- The Penn State Abington baseball team took the first game of a three game series against Lancaster Bible this afternoon by defeating the Chargers 7-2. The Nittany Lions improve to 20-14 overall and 13-2 in conference.

Sophomore
Joseph Rizzo (Gibbstown, NJ) led off the bottom of the 2
nd inning for the Nittany Lions with a single, and later stole second. Freshman
Bill Trimble (Yardley, PA) followed with a single of his own and a stolen base to put runners in scoring position at second and third. Senior
Tyler DiPatri (Pedricktown, NJ) ripped the ball down the right field line to put Abington up 2-0.

The Nittany Lions pushed one more run across the plate in the fifth inning with an RBI from
Ryan McCarty (Yardley, PA) that scored
Brett Guaglionona (Abington, Pa.) who reached based by beating out an infield single.

Abington had a huge seventh inning rally that added five more runs to help secure the 7-2 win. The Nittany Lions had four singles from
Brett Guaglionona,
Jaden Himmelreich (Temple, PA), Joe Rizzo, and
Tyler DiPatri, who drove in three runs for the Abington today.
Ryan McCarty contributed a RBI double to earn his second RBI of the day.

Tomorrow the Nittany Lions will celebrate their two seniors
Brett Guaglionona and
Tyler DiPatri on Senior Day when they host Lancaster Bible for a double header beginning at 12:00pm.
