ABINGTON, PA. – Two goals from
Hernando Villamil helped the Penn State Abington men's soccer team to a 3-1 win over Penn College on Saturday afternoon. Abington improves to 3-4 overall and 2-2 in the conference.
Senior
Hernando Villamil tied the programs all-time leading scorer in Elision Pajollari with 35 goals for his career and earned his seventh this season to lead the team.
Abington was on the board quickly when Villamil capitalized on a cross that went off the goal keeper's hands right to the senior forward. Villamil coolly slotted the ball into the net to give Abington the 1-0 lead in the second minute of the game. The lead lasted for the Nittany Lions right until halftime when the Wildcats scored off a breakaway to tie the game 1-1.
The stalemate continued into the second half until the Nittany Lions earned a penalty which was converted by
Jose Palomeque. Later in the half Villamil put the game out of reach for the wildcats when freshman
Michael Thomas carved through the defense with a perfect through pass to set up the senior with his second goal.
Abington will look to continue their momentum when they host Neumann University on Wednesday at 4:00 p.m.
