Game Recap: Men's Basketball |

Nittany Lions Fall Short to SUNY Poly, 50-59

ABINGTON, PA- The Penn State Abington men's basketball team closed out their NEAC weekend by hosting SUNY Poly, but fell to the Wildcats within the final seconds of the game 60-59. With this loss Abington falls to 7-5 overall and 2-1 in conference.

Junior Pernell Ghee (Germantown, PA) dominated again with 29 points leading the Nittany Lions and provided four steals for Abington on defense. Right behind him was freshman Lexuus Fasce (Yonkers, NY) who tied his personal best from yesterday with a season high of nine points in today's performance along with three assists.

Sophmore Mohamed Mansaray (Philadelphia, PA) got the crowd on their feet by delivering the first basket of the day with a deep three assisted from teammate Amir Hill (Philadelphia, PA). The Nittany Lions pounded the ball in the paint by outscoring the Wildcats 18-6 in the first half. Abington also got it done on offense with outstanding three point shooting and was able to drain 50% from behind the arc to allow them the 29-27 advantage at halftime.

With less than three minutes left to play in the second half, Abington was up 57-46 over SUNY Poly after Ghee put up three crucial three pointers for the Nittany Lions, followed by a successful jumper in the paint. However, three untimely turnovers allowed the Wildcats to get back in the game, trailing by one 59-58. With 11 seconds left, the Wildcats took a timeout to strategize a play to steal the game. The Wildcats missed a layup, but executed with the biggest rebound of the day to put the ball back in the hoop, forcing Abington to trail 60-59 with only  two seconds left on the clock and not enough time to get off a game winning shot .

Up next the Nittany Lions will travel to NEAC opponent Gallaudet University this Wednesday for a 5:00pm tip off.
