Nittany Lions Drop Heartbreaker to Gallaudet, 67-65

WASHINGTON, DC. – The Penn State Abington men's basketball team traveled to Gallaudet University in a conference clash, but the Bison topped the Nittany Lions 67-65 on Wednesday night. After the loss the Nittany Lions fall to 7-6 overall and 2-2 in the North Eastern Athletic Conference.

Freshman Lexuus Fasce led the way for the Nittany Lions with 15 points, and senior Bobby Olsen hit a career milestone of 1000 points after he netted eight against the Bison.

In the first half Gallaudet came out on fire hitting their first three shots and taking a quick 8-0 lead. The Bison pushed their lead to double digits after converting a four point play, when Noah Valencia drained a three-ball and drew the foul for the and one.  Down by 12 the Nittany Lions clawed their way back into the game and after two buckets from Olsen only trailed the Bison 25-23.  With under five left to play Fasce knocked down a jumper to tie the game at 27-27.  An 8-0 swing for the Bison stole the momentum from the Nittany Lions trailing 35-31 at the break.

Abington came out of the gate and tied the Bison off a shot from downtown by Amir Hill, but the Bison responded and pulled ahead by nine points in the second half. The Nittany Lions hung around with Gallaudet, but were unable to take back the lead for most of the second half. Down the stretch the Nittany Lions came within a possession of tying the game and with 30 seconds left in the game Fasce stunned the hosts with a three pointer. Down 66-65 the Nittany Lions had two opportunities to go ahead of the Bison but their shots didn't fall.

Abington will return home to host Penn College of Technology on Saturday afternoon at 1:00 p.m.
