ABINGTON, PA. - Â Â On a snowy day in Abington, the Penn State Abington men's basketball team hosted Penn College but fell to the Wildcats 92-78 on Saturday afternoon. After the loss the Nittany Lions to 7-7 overall and 2-3 in the conference.
Junior
Amir Hill led the way for the Nittany Lions, almost pulling off the double-double with 22 points and nine rebounds. Right behind
Lexuus Fasce netted a career high 18 points for the freshman.
The Nittany Lions fell behind in the first half thanks to the Wildcats hot hand from behind the arc. Penn College hit 9-of-14 shots for three, while the Nittany Lions struggled to land their shots and only hit 3-of-14. Because of their incredible shooting, the Wildcats held a 51-33 lead at the break after the Nittany Lions struggled in the first half.
In the second half Abington slowly started to chip away at the lead getting the Wildcats into foul trouble early. Down by 17 points with 10 minutes remaining in the game, the Nittany Lions pulled together a run thanks to clutch free throw shooting to bring them within nine points with just under seven minutes remaining. Unfortunately the nine point deficit was as close at the Nittany Lions could get because of the great shooting from the floor for the Wildcats.
Abington will look to rebound on Wednesday night when they host Penn St.-Harrisburg for Hype Night, and Faculty and staff appreciation. The Nittany Lions will kick off at 6:00 p.m. and at halftime Abington will honor the 2018-19 NEAC Champion baseball and women's tennis team by unveiling their championship banners. Â
