Women's Basketball Defeats Gallaudet in a Big Overtime WIn

WASHINGTON, D.C. - For the first time this season, the Penn State Abington women's basketball team played in overtime, for a crucial 77-74 win over NEAC opponent Gallaudet University. With this victory, Abington improves to 5-7 on the season and 3-1 in conference.

Seniors
Laquana Nagbe (Philadelphia, PA)  and Sydney Barrow (Philadelphia, PA) each dropped a season best of 23 points in tonight's performance. Barrow earned her second double-double of the year by collecting 10 rebounds. Fellow senior Angie Tabares (Hackensack, NJ) also earned a season best with eight points.

In the first quarter, the Bison's defense kept Abington to their lowest scoring quarter of the year by taking an early 8-6 advantage over the Nittany Lions. It wasn't until the second quarter when Abington's offense was able to connect their shots with points in the paint, and two big three balls from sophomore
Lacy MacLachlin (Boyertown, PA) . Heading into halftime the Nittany Lions trailed 28-24.

Abington took their biggest lead of the night in the third quarter by capitalizing off points in the paint. Buckets were delivered from Barrow, Gaddy, and Nagbe to allow the Lions a 5-0 cushion. However, Nagbe's biggest bucket of the night came with 11 seconds left in the fourth quarter. The senior veteran drained a monumental three, to send Abington into their first overtime of the year, with the score even at 62 a piece.

Down 72-67 with two minutes to play, unstoppable Nagbe yet again delivered a game changing three to bring Abington back in reach 72-70. With the Nittany Lions fired up, Sydney Barrow drove back to back to the rim, allowing Abington the 76-74 lead. With one second left in the game, Nagbe put the game away with a successful free throw, to grant the Nittany Lions their third NEAC victory.

Up next the Nittany Lions will host Penn College this Saturday for a 3:00pm tipoff.
