LANCASTER, Pa. – The Penn State Abington men's basketball team traveled to Lancaster Bible, but the Nittany Lions couldn't lock down the Chargers in a 74-59 loss on Saturday afternoon. After the loss the Nittany Lions fall to 7-9 overall and 2-5 in the NEAC.
Leading the Nittany Lions was
Amir Hill with 18 points, while freshman guard
Brian Randolph III scooped six boards to lead the Nittany Lions in rebounds.
In a back-and-forth opening to the game the Nittany Lions and Chargers traded blows right out of the gate. Lancaster Bible took a slight edge after five minutes of intense action but
Alex Podolski drained his shot from downtown to keep the Nittany Lions within striking distance. The Charges kept the lead but struggled pull away from the Nittany Lions thanks to Abington earning some tough fouls and hitting their free throws. At the half the Chargers held a 35-28 lead.
A 7-0 run for the Chargers to open the second half gave them a double-digit lead. Lancaster Bible continued with the momentum and pushed their lead up to 21 points, but Abington clawed their way back. With six minutes remaining Hill drained another three-ball and earned the and one to bring the Nittany Lions within 11 points with plenty of time on the clock. Unfortunately the Nittany Lions couldn't get over the hump and force overtime.
Abington continues on the road when they face off against Penn State Berks on Tuesday night at 6:00 p.m.
