Abington Falls to Berks, 73-67

READING, Pa. -  On the road at Penn State Berks the Penn State Abington men's basketball team traded blows with their rivals, but Abington dropped a 73-67 heartbreaking loss on Tuesday night.  After the loss the Nittany Lions fall to 7-10 for the season and 2-6 in the North Eastern Athletic Conference.

Junior Pernell Ghee led the Nittany Lions with 14 points, while Mark Davis chipped in 13 points. Getting more minutes sophomore Mohamed Mansaray put up a season high 12 points.

Abington struggled to find their shot early in the first half, with Berks taking a 9-1 lead in the first three minutes of action.  Ghee helped the Nittany Lions claw their way back by heating up from behind the arc with back-to-back three pointers.  Berks countered with a 10-3 run to push their lead to double digits with just under 10 minutes remaining.  Berks held a comfortable lead until Abington cut the deficit with a 10 run sparked by Mansaray finding a way to get to the bucket. Abington hit two late free throws to come within two points but Berks drained a late three to go up 39-34 at the half.

In the second half Abington stayed close to Berks and the visitors tied the game with 13:30 left in the game after a huge shot downtown from Brian Randolph III.  Abington and Berks went back and forth with the game being tied five times before the visitors could take their first lead of the game with just under six minutes left to play. Up 62-60, Abington couldn't hold on, and eventually Berks put them away hitting their free throws down the stretch.

On Saturday Abington will look to rebound when they host Gallaudet University at 1:00 p.m.
