Nittany Lions Tame Chargers, 65-44

ABINGTON, PA. - For the third straight game, the Penn State Abington men's basketball team smothered their opponents with tonight's victim being Lancaster Bible in a 65-44 win. The Nittany Lions improved to 11-12 overall and 6-8 in the conference.

The Nittany Lions defense continues to set records after shutting down Penn State Berks, Wells College, and now keeping one of the top teams in the conference in Lancaster Bible to 44 points.  The key to Abington's dominant defense was keeping the Chargers from making a single three-point shot, going 0-of-15 for the night. Lancaster Bible struggled to make a basket the entire night shooting 28% being absolutely stymied by the Nittany Lions.

Senior Bobby Olsen led the way for the Nittany Lions only scoring 11 points, which highlighted the entire team effort in taking down one of the NEAC's top teams.

In the first nine minutes of action, the Nittany Lions and Chargers were tied at 9-9 with several lead changes in the opening moments. Abington pulled ahead with an 8-0 run highlighted by a pair of three-balls from Amir Hill and Alex Salata III. The Chargers responded and came within two points again under five minutes left to play, but Abington clamped down defensively, and ended the half on a 10-0 run.

Abington got tough points in the paint in the second half, and continued to give the Charges trouble shooting.  The Nittany Lions held a comfortable lead over the visitors in the second half thanks to earning fouls and making the Charges pay at the line, hitting 14-of-20 at the stripe. LBC chipped away at the lead and came within 12 points, but Abington held off their run by knocking down their free throws.

Abington will look to continue their defensive dominance when they travel to Morrisville State on Friday night at 5:00 p.m.
