Nittany Lions Come Up Short in Fourth Quarter Thriller to LBC

ABINGTON, PA- The Penn State Abington women's basketball team fought hard in their final home game of the season, but fell short to Lancaster Bible College 53-51. With this loss, Abington falls to 8-14 on the season and 6-8 in conference.

Ten missed free throws from the foul line, is was what could of changed the outcome for the Nittany Lions in tonight's performance. Senior Sydney Barrow (Philadelphia, PA) led the way for Abington's offense with 15 points. Behind her was junior Ashya Gaddy (Philadelphia, PA) who drained 13 buckets. Lacy MacLachlin (Boyertown, PA) and Iman Richmond (Chicago, IL) each contributed six points for Abington.

Abington got off to a slow first quarter only sinking 25% of their field goals while the Chargers drained 46% and took the early 14-8 lead. The Nittany Lions were able to match Lancaster Bible's offensive energy in the second quarter, and cut down the Chargers lead to 28-26 by halftime.

The blue and white did a phenomenal job of pounding points in the paint during the third quarter for the 36-35 lead. Abington scored 26 of their total points from inside the paint tonight.

Both the Nittany Lions and Chargers refused to go down without a fight, forcing the score to change three times for each team in the final quarter. It all came down to the final 20 seconds of the game. Lancaster Bible was fouled and granted the opportunity to shoot two successful foul shots before taking the 52-51 lead.

Abington with two time outs left, used their time outs to their advantage to strategize. Barrow was inbounded the ball and drove to the hole but came up short a basket. Fellow senior Laquana Nagbe (Philadelphia, PA) rebounded the ball and got to the line to shoot two free throws. Coming up empty on both shots, Abington was forced to foul, resulting in the Chargers gaining an extra 53-51 cushion. Forced to use their final timeout, Abington inbounded the ball but couldn't get off a shot to force an overtime.

Up next Abington will hit the road this Friday to face Morrisville State at 7:00pm.
