Baseball Drops Game Two to Guilford

GREENSBORO, NC – In game two of the three game series the Penn State Abington baseball team led Guilford College, but couldn't hold on in an 8-6 loss on Saturday afternoon.  After the loss the Nittany Lions drop 2-3 for the year.

Leading the way for the Nittany Lions was third baseman Zach Morales going 3-of-4 with two runs and another two RBIs. Senior Stevie Stevenson earned two hits and rounded the plate three times for the Nittany Lions.

In the first inning the Nittany Lions were on the board after Ryan McCarty drove in Stevenson for the first run of the game. Abington followed up in the second inning when Montana Milward placed a perfect bunt to the pitcher to drive in another run to make it 2-0 Nittany Lions.

The Quakers got onto the board in the fifth inning tying the game with two runs. The Nittany Lions responded in the sixth inning when Morales singled through the left side, and later Demetrius Deramus placed the ball in the same spot to push the Nittany Lions lead to 4-2.

In the sixth inning the Quakers took advantage of a passed ball to chip away at the lead, but Abington added another run in the seventh inning after a sacrifice fly.
Up 5-3 the hosts put together a big inning and scored five runs highlighted by a double down the right field line.

The Nittany Lions rallied in the ninth inning and scored off a sacrifice fly from Morales, but Abington couldn't overtake the Quakers.
Abington wraps up the three game stand with Guilford tomorrow afternoon at 12:00 p.m.
