Nittany Lions Snap Losing Streak at Penn College

WILLIAMSPORT, PA. – The Penn State Abington men's basketball snapped their losing streak and picked up a 78-64 win over Penn College on Wednesday night. The Nittany Lions improve to 8-11 overall and 3-7 in the North Eastern Athletic Conference.

Mohamed Mansaray had a career outing for the Nittany Lions with his 21 points he led the Nittany Lions and hit a new personal record for the sophomore guard.

Great perimeter shooting for Penn College helped them take an early lead after three shots from downtown. The Nittany Lions kept pace with the Wildcats thanks to some clutch shooting from Mansaray and Pernell Ghee.  Abington pulled ahead after six minutes of action, but the Wildcats responded with a 7-0 run to take back the lead.  A deep three from Mansaray shifted momentum back into the Nittany Lions favor and Abington finished the half with a 17-5 run to take a commanding lead at the half.

The Wildcats heated up again at the start of the half and tied the game 43-43 after five minutes of play.  Ghee forced a turnover and dished it to Alex Podolski to spark an 8-0 run, but the Wildcats didn't fold.  Penn College charged back and came within a point of the Nittany Lions but a three-ball from Amir Hill gave them some breathing room.  Abington pushed the lead to double digits thanks to another clutch three from Mansaray with just under five minutes on the clock.  Mansaray put the game out of reach for the Nittany Lions driving through the lane and sinking the layup while getting fouled.  After draining the and-one the Nittany Lions held a 70-54 lead with only a minute 1:30 left in the game.  Penn College hit some late three-pointers, but Lexuus Fasce put the game out of reach with six consecutive free-throws.

Abington looks to keep the turnaround going when they travel to Penn State Harrisburg this Saturday at 1:00 p.m.
