HARRISBURG, PA. – The Penn State Abington men's basketball team traveled to NEAC South division leader Penn State Harrisburg, but couldn't pull off the upset in an 89-49 loss on Saturday afternoon. Then Nittany Lions drop to 8-12 for the season and 3-8 in the conference.
In the beginning of the game, Abington kept the game close, but Harrisburg started to pull away thanks to an 8-0 run by shooting 50 percent in the first half. Â Down 22-11 Abington built momentum after
Amir Hill sparked the offense with his shot from behind the arc. Â An 11-4 run for Abington brought them within four points at the five minute mark of the first half. Harrisburg took control of the game in the final five minutes of the half, when they outscored Abington 19-2 and led 45-24 at the break.
Abington struggled to respond in the second half shooting 33 percent from the floor while Harrisburg hit 56 percent including an incredible 7-of-12 from behind the arc.
After the loss the Nittany Lions were eliminated from the NEAC Tournament, but will look to rebound when they host Penn State Berks on Wednesday at 6:00 p.m.
