ABINGTON, PA. – In the torrential downpour the Penn State Abington women's soccer team fought from being down two goals, but couldn't force overtime in a 2-1 loss to St. Mary's on Saturday afternoon. The Nittany Lions drop to 6-5-1 for the season and 2-3 in the United East Conference.
In the slick conditions the Nittany Lions did well to keep the Seahawks off the board facing 15 shots but only four on target.
The visitors struck first in the 32
nd minute of action and doubled up their lead in the second half in the 55
th minute.
Abington only fired two shots for the game but both were on target and sophomore
Grace Burns made hers count. Coming down the right wing the forward curled the ball past the front of the net and clipped the left post to fall into the back of the net.
The Nittany Lions pressed but couldn't force overtime against the Seahawks.
Next up for the Nittany Lions will be Penn State Berks when they travel to their rivals on Wednesday night at 7:00 p.m.
