ABINGTON, PA. – The Penn State Abington men's soccer team hosted Penn College for an important conference match but were held to a frustrating 0-0 draw on Saturday afternoon. Abington moves to 4-4-1 overall and 1-1-1 in the United East Conference.
Abington was held to only two shots in the first half by the Wildcats tenacious pressing, but did well to keep the Wildcats from getting a shot on target.
The Wildcats pressed the Nittany Lions in the second half and tried to break through, but
Matt Sheldon stonewalled the visitors and made clutch saves to keep the game scoreless. On the other side of the field the Wildcats keeper did well to keep the Nittany Lions off the board.
In overtime the Nittany Lions best chance came when
Michael Thomas broke down the right wing and slotted a perfect ball that just went outside the left post. Penn College tried to break the deadlock in overtime but Sheldon kept the Wildcats off the board.
Abington will be back in action next when they travel to Swarthmore College on Wednesday night at 7:00 p.m.
