SWARTHMORE, PA. - The Penn State Abington men's soccer team traveled to Swarthmore College but were shut down by the Garnet in a 3-0 loss on Tuesday night. After the loss the Nittany Lions fall to 4-5-1 for the season.
The Garnet controlled the run of play firing 24 shots and giving freshman keeper Brandon Werner a workout with nine saves off the 12 shots on target.
It didn't take long for the Garnet to get on the board when a loose ball in the box was put inside the right post for the first goal of the game in the 7
th minute.
In the second half the Garnet continued to press the Nittany Lions and were rewarded when they took advantage of a penalty that was converted from the spot in the 72 minute of action. Swarthmore closed out the game with a goal in the 89
th minute to put the game out of reach.
Abington will be back in action when they face off against conference foe Lancaster Bible on Saturday afternoon with kick off at 11:30 a.m.
