Nittany Lions Shut Out Penn College, 2-0

ABINGTON, PA. – Thanks to her fifth goal of the season Grace Burns put the Nittany Lions past Penn College 2-0 in a crucial conference match on Saturday afternoon. The Nittany Lions improve to 5-3-1 overall and 2-1 in the United East Conference standings.

Burns picked up her team leading fifth goal of the season while Erica Denshuick earned her first goal of the season later in the half. The Nittany Lions outshot Penn College 19-7 and forced the Wildcats keeper to make 12 saves.

It didn't take long for the Nittany Lions to get on the board when Burns put in a top drawer shot that curled into the top corner of the net. Up 1-0 over the visitors the Nittany Lions pressed the Wildcats and were rewarded for their efforts earning a penalty. Senior defender Erica Denshuick stepped up to the spot and drove her penalty down the middle and into the net.

In the second half the Nittany Lions kept attacking with 10 shots but couldn't add to their total and held off the Wildcats for the 2-0 win.

The Nittany Lions will be back in action when they host Clarks Summit on Wednesday evening at 4:00 p.m.
