READING, PA. – Down 2-0 at the half in a crucial United East Conference match, the Penn State Abington men's soccer team rallied to shock Penn State Berks in a 3-2 win on Wednesday night. Abington improves to 5-6-3 overall and 2-2-2 in the conference.
It was a good time for sophomore
Brendan Held to pick up his first career goal scoring the game winner in the 79
th minute of action. Freshman Colin Ounan also earned his career goal in the second half comeback.
In the first half Berks controlled the action outshooting Abington 6-3 and scoring goals in the 19
th and 43
rd minute of play.
Out of the break Abington needed to rally and were provided a spark when Elijo Agolli put in a cross from the end line that found Ounan at the near post to cut the deficit 2-1. Â Abington kept the pressure on Berks and Agolli earned a goal of his own when he beat the keeper one on one and chipped it into the back of the net to tie the match. Abington wasn't done yet and Held put home the game winner off a corner kick from
Benell Saygarn.
Abington will continue their hunt for a spot in the United East playoffs when they travel to Wells College on Saturday afternoon at 1:00 p.m.
