IMMACULATA, PA. – The Penn State Abington women's basketball team traveled to Immacuata but couldn't come away with a win in an 86-47 loss on Saturday afternoon .The Nittany Lions fall to 1-5 for the season.
Abington was led by sophomore Angela Sanders with 18 points, and senior Cassie Tavormina chipped in 15 points for the afternoon.
The Mighty Macs came out hot in the first quarter immediately taking a 9-0 lead in the first few minutes of action. A three-ball from Lacy MacLachlin capped off a 7-2 run to get the Nittany Lions back into the game. Immaculata held a slim 14-11 lead after a defensive first period.
Abington battled with the Mighty Macs trading shots and staying within a few points of the hosts only down 20-19 halfway through the second period. The Might Macs finished the half with a 9-4 run, but right before the break Sanders drained her shot to make it 29-23.
The floodgates opened in the second half with the Mighty Macs shooting 50 percent from the floor and from downtown to put up a score of 28-12 in the third period.
Immaculata kept the heat on and kept scoring putting 29 points on the board in the 4th quarter to put away the Nittany Lions.
Abington will continue on the road and look to rebound when they face off against Centenary University on Wednesday night a 7:00 p.m.
