ABINGTON, Pa. – The Penn State Abington baseball team hosted Lancaster Bible and came away with two important conference wins on Saturday afternoon. Abington took game one in a walk off 2-1 win and came from behind in game two with a 9-7 victory over the Chargers.  Abington improves to 8-1 for the season and 4-0 in the NEAC.

Freshman Justin Fogel led the Nittany Lions going 5-of-8 with two runs and three RBIs for the day. On the mound Jamie Burkhart and Brendon Reese both picked up their first wins of the season.

In game one Abington threatened in the second inning with bases loaded, but the Chargers got out of the inning unscathed. The deadlock continued until the eighth inning when the Chargers scored a run off a sharp single to third base.

Needing a run in the bottom half of the inning the Nittany Lions came through when Darrien Mogel got runners into scoring position with a ground rule double down the right line. Abington took advantage of an error by the second baseman to score two runs and walk off the field winners.

Lancaster Bible pulled ahead in the first inning of game two, but Stevie Stevenson drove a bomb over the right field wall to tie the game 1-1.  In the back-and-forth contest LBC pulled ahead again, but Stevenson drove in another run to tie the game in the third inning.

The visitors scored the next four runs taking a 6-2 lead in the fourth inning. Abington responded with an RBI single by Sean Doherty and a RBI double from Justin Pizzo to cut the lead 6-5. LBC added to their total in the fifth inning, but Fogel came through in the clutch in the final innings.  The freshman knocked in three of the next for runs in the final innings to help Abington complete the sweep.

Abington hits the road this week when they travel to Penn College for a doubleheader on Wednesday afternoon at 1:00 p.m.
