Abington takes two from Penn College

WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. – Still on their hot streak, the Penn State Abington baseball team swept Penn College on Thursday afternoon. With the win the Nittany Lions improve to 10-1 overall and 6-0 in the NEAC.

Junior Ryan McCarty stared in game one with three hits, three RBIs and two runs scored in four at bats. Senior Stevie Stevenson led the Nittany Lions in game two with three hits, three stolen bases, a run and an RBI.  On the mound Darrien Mogel picked up his second win of the season only giving up five hits and one run.

Abington started the game by scoring 10 runs in the first four innings.  Paul Woodley knocked in a run with a double down the left line in the second. Later in the inning McCarty smashed his pitch over the right field wall to score another three runs.  Still in the second inning Woodley drove his ball deep to center field to add another RBI to his total.

The Nittany Lions kept piling on with six more runs in the fifth inning. Abington took advantage of rattled pitching staff and earned four runs off of walks.  In the seventh inning Nate Teagle capped off the scoring with his RBI single to left field.

In game two Stevenson tore up the base path.  In the first inning the senior stole home to score the games first run. Later the Nittany lions scored on a an error and a wild pitch, McCarty put Penn College in the 9th with his RBI double down the line.

Abington travels to Harrisburg on Saturday for a crucial conference matchup at 12:00 p.m.
