WASHINGTON, DC. – The Penn State Abington women's soccer team got back into the win column after a 2-0 win over Gallaudet University on Saturday afternoon. With the win the Nittany Lions improve to 3-3-1 overall and 1-1 in the United East.
Freshman
Madison McDowell notched her third goal of the season in the first half and
Michaela Tommarello opened her account with a converted penalty. The Nittany Lions dominated the shot count with 15 shots and 10 on target while the Bison struggled with only three shots that were all saved by McDowell in the second half.
In the first half Abington pressed the Bison and were rewarded for their efforts when McDowell took a long shot from 35 yards out that beat the keeper over her head. Later in the half the Nittany Lions took advantage of a foul in the box where Tommarello converted the penalty to double the Nittany Lions lead.
Gallaudet tried to get back into the match with a few shot in the second half but McDowell was solid between the sticks and kept the Nittany Lions ahead for their third win this season.
The Nittany Lions will return home when they host Keystone College on Wednesday afternoon at 4:00 p.m.
