Burns leads Nittany Lions to 7-1 win over Keystone College

ABINGTON, PA. – A first half hat-trick from Grace Burns helped the Penn State Abington women's soccer team to a dominate 7-1 win over Keystone College on Wednesday evening. The Nittany Lions improve to 4-3-1 for the season.

Burns put on an offensive clinic with three goals and two assists which brings her tally to four for the season.

The Nittany Lions controlled the game with 35 shots and 15 on target while holding the visitors to only 4 shots for the entire game.

In the first half Grace Burns kicked off the scoring with she cut in from the left and beat the keeper near post to give the Nittany Lions the 1-0 lead. After a nice pass from Jamie Marino Burns doubled the lead with her second goal of the game in the 28th minute. Moments later Burns completed her hat-trick in the 31st minute after being assisted by Michaela Tommarello. In the 35th minute Tommarello notched a goal of her own being assisted by Burns to give the Nittany Lions the 4-0 lead going into the break.

Abington was back on the board again when Madison McDowell scored her fourth goal of the season in the 52nd minute of action. A pair of goals for Julia Boccella and Mary Kate Smith pushed the Nittany Lions total to seven, their highest total since September 2016 when they topped Saint Elizabeth University 9-0.

Abington will be back in action when they host conference foe Penn College at 3:30 p.m.
