Volleyball Pulls Out 3-2 Thriller over Del Val

ABINGTON, PA. – In a tense match, the Penn State Abington women's volleyball team pulled out a thrilling 3-2 win over Delaware Valley on Thursday night. With the win the Nittany Lions improve to 9-8 for the season.

Senior Jenny McAnaney racked up 23 kills and 24 digs while Emma de Mey led the team in digs with 27 for the night.

Abington took an early lead in the first set but were in for a battle as the Aggies hung around. The Nittany Lions earned the win in the first set after a close 25-23 decision.  The Aggies came out on fire in the second set with an 11-1 run to start. Abington chipped away at the lead and eventually tied the game 20-20, but Delaware Valley pulled out a 25-23 win of their own to tie the match 1-1. Again, the Aggies took the early lead with a 9-2 run but the Nittany Lions overcame their early struggles and pulled ahead of the visitors to win the third set 25-23.  The Aggies tied the match against after they picked up a 25-19 decision in the fourth set.  In the final set the senior outside hitter took control of the game earning six kills in the final set to push the Nittany Lions past the Aggies 15-11 for the 3-2 win.

The Nittany Lions will hit the road facing Gwynedd Mercy University and FDU-Florham for a tri-match starting at 10:00 a.m.
