READING, PA – Penn State Abington evened its record in United East Conference play thanks to a 79-61 road victory over Penn State Berks on Friday evening.
Abington upped its overall record to 7-4, including a 1-1 mark in the United East while Berks fell to 0-10, 0-4.
Abington trailed 11-7 but saw five different players score as part of an 11-0 run for a seven-point advantage. Berks fought back and tied it up at 22-22 with 6:21 remaining in the first half before 13 consecutive points by Abington gave the squad the lead for good.
Brian Randolph III began the spurt with seven straight points while
Alex Salata III added five in the run.
The closest Berks got was six in the second half but a 6-0 run by Abington made it a 12-point contests and Berks never pulled to within single digits the rest of the way. Abington had a big advantage at the free throw line as it was 21-for-31 from the stripe while Berks got there just nine times (7-for-9)
Randolph led Abington with 17 points and nine rebounds.
Darrion Harris chipped in 14 points while
Jomiloju Odumosu and
Isaac Kennon scored 12 and nine points respectively. Ladan Graves paced Berks with 16 points.
Penn State Abington will return to action in 24 hours when it travels to defending conference champion Penn State Harrisburg.
