ABINGTON, PA – Gallaudet University placed five players in double figures as the visiting Bison downed Penn State Abington, 79-46, in United East Conference action from Wednesday evening.
Gallaudet improved to 6-7 overall and 4-2 in the conference while the Nittany Lions fell to 4-9 and 3-2.
The Bison opened the game with 19 of the first 24 points before Penn State Abington scored the last six of the quarter to make it an eight-point game. Three different players scored for the Nittany Lions in the run, including a trey from
Cassie Tavormina.
Gallaudet outscored Penn State Abington by three in the second quarter for an 11-point advantage at the break. The Bison upped the lead to 17 after three and pulled away with a 23-7 margin in the fourth.
Malia Zornozza came off the bench and notched 15 points and 14 rebounds for Gallaudet. Cassidy Perry also had a double-double with 13 points and 12 boards.
For the Nittany Lions,
Angela Sanders led the way with 19 points. She also added five rebounds and three steals.
Camille Fleming scored seven points and grabbed 10 boards while
Alexis Hunter had five points and three rebounds in 13 minutes of action.
Penn State Abington will host Wells College for a United East Conference game on Saturday, January 22 (3 p.m.).
