How It Happened

* The Express scored the game's first goal in the ninth minute of action when Lydia Thomas scored her third goal of the season off a breakaway through the defense.

* The lead didn't last long as the Nittany Lions tied the game off a deep shot from the center of the field by freshman Amanda Armstrong for her first collegiate goal.  Armstrong's goal in the 15th minute jump started a stretch of five unanswered goals by Abington.

* Abington grabbed its first lead of the game in the 28th minute when freshman Emma Frasca connected on her fourth goal of the season off a feed from sophomore Sarah Gibbons.  Ten minutes later the Nittany Lions struck again when freshman Madison Schmitt scored her first collegiate goal in the 39th minute to make the score 3-1.  Junior Grace Burns was credited with the assist on the play.

* Burns then scored a goal of her own to cap the scoring in the first half.  Burns tallied the first of her two goals in the 42nd minute off an assist from Gibbons.  Burns would tally her 10th goal of the season early in the second half with Gibbons once again supplying the helper. Burns' score made it a 5-1 game in the 54th minute.

Inside the Box Score

* The two goals by Burns marked her third multi-goal game of the season and her 20th and 21st career goals.  Burns is the fifth player in program history to register 20-plus goals in a career.  She currently ranks fifth all-time in goals scored with 21.

* Gibbons' three assists tied the program record for most assists in a game.  She is the fourth player in program history to do so and the first since 2014.

* Freshman goalkeeper Rachel Wilfrid picked up the win in net as she made one save after facing only two shots by the Express the entire game.  The Nittany Lions outshot their opponent by a 33-2 margin.

* Armstrong and Schmitt each recorded their first collegiate goals in the game.
