Abington Clinches Postseason Berth with Win at Penn College

Williamsport, Pa. – The Penn State Abington men's soccer team will be heading back to the United East Conference (UEC) Tournament for the sixth straight season after defeating Penn College, 2-1, in United East action on Saturday afternoon at UMPC Field.

How It Happened
 
* After one shot the entire first half, Abington fired three shots on-goal within the first 15 minutes of the second half with the third finding the back of the net.  Freshman Tony Colon tied the game in the 60th minute with his fourth goal of the season.  Sophomore Eljo Agolli was credited with the assist for his team-leading sixth of the season.
 
* Abington would grab the lead for the first time six minutes later when Colon assisted sophomore Arsene Bado with his eighth goal of the season.  Bado's eventual game-winner gave the Nittany Lions a 2-1 lead in the 67th minute.
 
* Senior Matt Sheldon preserved the win as he made a pair of saves down the stretch including a big stop in the 84th minute on Penn College's final shot attempt of the game.

* Bado is now tied with Agolli for the team lead in goals as both players have eight on the season.  Their eight goals are currently third-most among the conference leaders.
 
* Sheldon finished the game with four saves in net for the Nittany Lions which gives him 115 in his career.  He's now tied for the second-most saves in program history with Dan Saint-Pol (2013-14).
 
* Abington outshot Penn College, 7-5, in the second half and finished the game with six shots on-goal to five by the Wildcats.  The Nittany Lions held the advantage on corner kicks by an 8-5 margin.
 
Postseason Bound
Abington will be one of the four teams competing for a conference title when the United East Tournament begins next month.  It marks the Nittany Lions sixth straight appearance in the conference tournament and ninth overall.
 
All-Time Series
Today marked the ninth meeting between Abington and Penn College since the start of the 2014 season.  The Nittany Lions are now 7-0-2 versus the Wildcats in the all-time series.

Next Up
Abington returns to action on Tuesday, Oct. 25 as the Nittany Lions travel to face Moravian University in a non-conference contest.  Game time is set for 7 p.m.
