Harris Nets 29 in Consolation Game of Messiah Tip-Off Tournament

Grantham, Pa. – Junior Darrion Harris tied his career-high with his second straight 29-point performance as the Penn State Abington men's basketball team face Misericordia University in the Consolation Game of the Messiah University Tip-Off Tournament on Saturday afternoon.  The Nittany Lions fell short to the Cougars, 81-75.

How It Happened
 
* The game featured 19 lead changes and nine ties throughout, including 14 lead changes in the second half.  In a back-and-forth second half, Abington held a five-point advantage (57-52) midway through after senior Alex Salata III scored a layup basket started off a steal on the defensive end by fellow senior Brian Randolph III
 
* Over the next seven minutes Misericordia went on a 19-10 run grabbing its biggest lead of the game at 71-65 at the 3:40 mark.  Abington responded and ripped off an 8-2 run to cut the deficit down to 74-73 after a layup score by junior Jake Schalki with :50 seconds remaining.
 
* On the ensuing Misericordia possession, a three-pointer by Joseph Baldachino increased the Cougars' lead to 77-73.  After a missed free throw on Abington's next possession on a one-and-one opportunity, Misericordia grabbed the defensive board leading to a basket on the other end to seal the victory with :12 seconds left. 
 
Inside the Box Score
 
* One night after setting a new career-high, Harris followed with another 29-point performance 11-of-13 shooting from the field, including a perfect 5-of-5 from three-point range.  He finished the Messiah Tip-Off Tournament averaging 29.0 points per game 58.0-percent shooting from the field and 56.0-percent from deep range.
 
* Salata came off the bench and scored a season-high 17 points after draining 3-of-6 from beyond the arc. 
 
* Senior Isaac Kennon also scored in double-figures as he totaled 10 points to go along with six rebounds.
 
* Randolph and Schalki each finished with five points and seven rebounds.
 
* For Misericordia, Nick Prociak led the team with 24 points (11-15 FG) and eight rebounds, while Baldachino added 15 points.
 
All-Time Series
Today marked the third meeting between Abington and Misericordia since the start of the 2018-19 season.  The Nittany Lions are now 1-2 all-time versus the Cougars.
 
Next Up
Abington returns to action on Wednesday, Nov. 16 as the Nittany Lions hit the road to face Clarks Summit University in a non-conference contest.  Game time is set for 7 p.m.
