Immaculata Pulls Away from Abington in Non-Conference Tilt

Abington, Pa. – The Penn State Abington women's basketball team fell to visiting Immaculata University by the score of 71-55 in non-conference action on Monday night at the Abington Athletic Building.

How It Happened
 
* Immaculata used a third quarter surge to flip the momentum of the game.  Leading 38-36 midway through the third quarter, the Mighty Macs went on an 8-0 run over a two-minute span.  A three-pointer by Tessa Liberatoscioloi gave Immaculata a double-digit lead at 46-36 with 3:08 to play in the quarter. 
 
* The Macs went on to lead by 13 points entering the fourth quarter after back-to-back jumpers by Olivia Ettorre made the score 54-41 to close out the quarter.
 
* In the fourth quarter Immaculata held its double-digit advantage and increased its lead to as many as 18 points at the 1:37 mark when the Macs led, 69-51.
 
* Abington erased an 11-point deficit in the first quarter.  The Nittany Lions trailed 19-8 at the 3:11 mark of the opening frame.  By quarters end the Nittany Lions cut the deficit down to 19-14 after a quick 6-0 run to close out the quarter.  Junior Angel Sanders accounted for five of the teams six points during the run.
 
* The momentum carried on into the second quarter as Abington scored on its first three possessions to extend its run to 12-0.  A jumper by senior Isabella Vazquez gave Abington its first lead of the game at 20-19 a minute into the quarter. The lead was short-lived as the Macs followed with an 11-4 run over the next five minutes to grab a 30-21 advantage.  The Nittany Lions responded with a 9-2 run with Sanders capping the scoring in the half with a three-pointer to make the score 32-30 in favor of the Macs heading into halftime.   
 
Inside the Box Score
 
* Sanders led the Nittany Lions with 21 points to go along with six rebounds and three steals on defense.
 
* Vazquez finished with 14 points and seven rebounds while also recording three steals.
 
* Senior Cassie Tavormina added eight points and a season-high seven rebounds.
 
* Junior Camille Fleming finished with seven points (3-5 FG); one shy of her season-high. 
 
* For the Macs, Reese Mullins shot a perfect 10-of-10 from the field and 6-of-6 from the free throw line as she finished with 26 points.  She also recorded eight rebounds.  Abigail Lentowski came off the bench and totaled 14 points and nine rebounds.
 
All-Time Series
Tonight marked the third meeting between Abington and Immaculata since the start of the 2013-14 season.  The Nittany Lions are now 0-3 versus the Macs in the all-time series.

Next Up
Abington returns to action on Friday, Dec. 2 as the Nittany Lions open United East Conference play with a home contest against Morrisville State College.  Tip-off is set for 5 p.m.
