Abington Falls to Salisbury in Non-Conference Action

Abington, Pa. – The Penn State Abington men's basketball team saw its five-game winning streak come to an end after falling to Salisbury University, 86-71, in non-conference action on Tuesday night at the Abington Athletic Building.

How It Happened
 
* Abington jumped out to a 4-0 lead before Salisbury with a 9-0 run to grab a 9-4 lead at the 13:48 mark.  The Sea Gulls maintained the lead from that point the entire first half and led by as many as 11 points late in the half.  After a pair of free throws by Brandon Craig, Salisbury held a 30-19 lead with 3:18 to play until halftime.
 
* In the final 3:18 of the half, the Nittany Lions shot a perfect 4-for-4 from the field and 2-of-2 from the free throw line turning an 11-point deficit down to four by the end of the half.  Abington used an 11-4 run to close out the half and make the score 34-30 heading into halftime.
 
* In the second half the Nittany Lions tied the game at 37-37 thanks to a three-pointer by senior Brian Randolph III at the 17:17 mark.  On the team's next possession, Randolph gave Abington its first lead since the opening minutes of the first half with a basket to give the Nittany Lions a 39-37 advantage.
 
* Later in the half with Abington ahead 49-48, Salisbury went on a 10-0 run to grab a 58-49 lead with 11:41 on the clock. 
 
* The Nittany Lions cut the lead down to one possession when Randolph drained a three-pointer to make the score 60-57 at the 8:36 mark.  The Sea Gulls responded with a three-pointer by Kaiden Mines who then converted a free throw for the four-point play to increase Salisbury's lead to seven at 64-57. 
 
* With less than five minutes remaining and already ahead 71-65, the Sea Gulls used a 9-0 surge to grab their biggest lead of the game at 80-65.  A layup score by Craig capped the run at 2:11 on the clock. Salisbury outscored the Nittany Lions, 15-6, the final five minutes of the game.
 
Inside the Box Score
 
* Randolph led the Nittany Lions with a season-high 22 points after shooting 7-of-14 from the field, including 6-of-9 from deep range.  He also grabbed five boards and dished out three assists.
 
* Senior Alex Salata III finished the game with 18 points to go along with a game-high seven assists setting a new career-high.
 
* Senior Alex Podolski also scored in double-figures as he added 12 points on 4-of-7 shooting from the field.
 
* Sophomore Lexuus Fasce scored a season-high eight points (2-2 3FG). 
 
* For Salisbury, Greg Bloodsworth scored a game-high 29 points to go along with six rebounds, while Craig added 20 points and six boards.  The Sea Gulls shot a perfect 17-of-17 from the free throw line.
 
All-Time Series
Tonight marked the third meeting between Abington and Salisbury and the first since 2012-13 season.  The Nittany Lions are now 0-3 versus the Sea Gulls in the all-time series.
 
Next Up
Abington returns to action on Thursday, Dec. 8 as the Nittany Lions close out the calendar year with a road game at near-by Bryn Athyn College in a non-conference contest.  Game time is set for 7 p.m.
