ABINGTON, PA -- Penn State Abington hit the ground running and never looked back during its 84-48 home victory over Penn State Berks in a United East men's basketball match-up.
Abington (10-9, 4-6) guards
Darrion Harris and
Zack Semmler took over early, scoring a combined 14 points in the first 10 minutes and a total of 17 on the night. Harris got things going by scoring a three-pointer off a Berks (0-15, 0-9) turnover. Just a minute later, Harris scored an and-one layup, putting Abington up by seven points early, setting up a 25-6 run.

Abington eventually took a 43-21 lead into the break as it shot 17-for-30 (56.7 percent) from the field while holding Berks to just 32 percent shooting. Seven different players hit the scoresheet for Abington in the opening 20 minutes.

The hot shooting continued in the second half and Abington finished the night 34-for-66 (51.5 percent). Turnovers were a significant factor in the outcome with Abington scoring 27 points off 21 Berks turnovers (Berks had 11 points off 12 Abington miscues). Alongside their defensive efforts, Abington also shot 51.5% from the field on the night.

Brian Randolph III led Abington with 13 points on 6-for-11 shooting and team-high nine rebounds. Four of Randolph's teammates finished in double digits, including Harris (12),
Alex Podolski (11),
Dan Prior (11), and
Kolby Miller (10).

For Berks, the team was led by Brody Bolyn, who had 16 points on 7-for-13 shooting from the field alongside seven rebounds.

Penn State Abington is back in action this Saturday, February 5 (1:00 p.m.) when it travel to United East foe Lancaster Bible College.
