MORRISVILLE, NY -- Despite a closely-fought battle, the Penn State Abington men's basketball team fell on the road to SUNY Morrisville, 73-61, in a United East Conference contest
The Nittany Lions (12-12, 6-9) trailed by eight points halfway through the first half, but a team effort propelled them back into the game. A flurry of baskets from
Alex Salata III,
Zack Semmler,
Mohamed Mansaray, and
Brian Randolph III helped cut their deficit to just one point, 25-24, moving into the second half.
Penn State Abington took a lead of as many as four on multiple occasions early in the second half, the last being 36-32. The Mustangs (8-16, 5-10) came back and built a 56-48 advantage with less than seven minutes remaining. The Nittany Lions couldn't get closer than three points the rest of the way.
Randolph III and
Darrion Harris tied with a team-high 16 points, shooting a combined 58 percent from the floor.
Alex Podolski was another critical factor in tonight's game as he had 13 points while grabbing eight boards and dishing out five assists. The trio combined for 45 of Abington's 61 points on the night.

Freshman guard Michael Litchfield had arguably his best game of the season for the Mustangs, scoring 27 points. Litchfield got his offense going from beyond the arc, making five of his eight attempts from three-point land.

Penn State Abington will close out its 2021-2022 season tomorrow afternoon when it faces Wells College in Aurora, New York.
