How It Happened (Game 1)

* Abington scored the game's first run in the first inning and that was all the offense starting pitcher, Jaden Himmelreich, needed to pick up his fourth victory of the season.  Back-to-back walks to start the first inning gave Abington an early opportunity to score.  Tim Petrucelli drove in the game's first run with a one-out single to right field.

* Himmelreich (4-2) went seven strong innings to record the complete-game victory.  He limited the Wildcats to just three hits while striking out three batters.

* The Abington offense provided much more support than the single run in the first.  The Nittany Lions made it a 4-0 game with three runs in the third.  Ryan McCarty and Petrucelli recorded back-to-back RBI singles.  Later in the inning Sean Doherty drove in McCarty with a groundout to shortstop.

* Abington added three more runs in the fifth inning.  Petrucelli connected on his fourth home run of the season to score the inning's first run.  Later in the inning, Louis Rossner and Andrew Lastowka each had run scoring doubles as Abington increased its lead to 7-0.

* The Nittany Lions made it a 9-0 game in the sixth after scoring two unearned runs before capping the scoring in the seventh with five more runs. Matt Crisci tripled in a pair of runs and later scored on a ground out by Chase Swain.  McCarty made the score 14-0 with a two-run inside the park home run, his 19th home run of the season.

Inside the Box Score (Game 1)

* Petrucelli had a day at the plate as he finished 3-for-3 with three RBI and two runs scored to go along with a pair of walks as he reached base five times.

* McCarty also drove in three runs after a 3-for-5 day at the plate and scored three times.  His seventh inning home run marked his 19th home run of the season.

* Crisci went 1-for-4 with a run and two RBI.

* Swain finished the game 2-for-3 with two runs and an RBI, while Rossner also had multiple hits with a 2-for-4 performance to go along with a run and one RBI.  Justin Fogel went 2-for-4 with a run.

* For Penn, Jake Wagner, Jacob Carles and Tyler Rudolph all went 1-for-3 to account for all three of the Wildcats' hits.

How It Happened (Game 2)

* Lastowka broke a scoreless tie in the top of the fourth inning with a grand slam home run.  Penn got two of those runs back in the bottom of the inning after a two-run double by Kolten Smith.

* Abington broke the game open in the eighth with six runs.  Himmelreich highlighted the inning with a two-run single which was followed by back-to-back doubles by Swain and Fogel that drove in a run each.

* McCarty capped the scoring in the ninth with the team's second grand slam of the game to make the score 14-3.

Inside the Box Score (Game 2)

* McCarty's ninth inning grand slam was his 20th of the season marking the most in NCAA Division III this year.  His 20 home runs are tied for most among all three NCAA Divisions with Saint Leo University's Bobby Sparling.  McCarty's four runs in today's doubleheader marked 58 on the season setting a new single season program record.  In addition, his eight RBI (five in game two) made it 57 RBI on the year, also setting a new single season program record.

* Lastowka drove in four runs, one shy of his career-high, with his second grand slam of the season.

* Greg Wiley (3-0) earned his third win of the season after going 5.2 innings.  He allowed two runs on eight hits, while striking out four batters.  Ryan Hansbury (1.1) and Gregg Sywulak (2.0) entered in relief holding the Wildcats to just one hit and one unearned run in a combined 3.1 innings.

All-Time Series
Today marked the 20th and 21st meetings between Abington and Penn since the start of the 2015 season.  The Nittany Lions are now 14-7 versus the Wildcats in that span.
