How It Happened

* Abington broke a scoreless tie in the fourth inning when Ryan McCarty singled through the left side to drive in Justin Fogel for the game's first run.  The Wildcats responded in the bottom of the run with a run of their own to tie the game at 1-1 off a run scoring double by Cameron Dick.

* The Nittany Lions regained the lead in the fifth when Montana Milward scored on a Penn error.  Milward led the inning off with a double to left center field.  Once again, the Wildcats responded with a single run in the bottom of the inning to tie the game at 2-2.  Connor Burke recorded the run scoring single.

* In the sixth inning, Abington regained the lead, this time for good.  The Nittany Lions plated four runs in the inning with Zach Morales coming through with a two-run double.  Milward and Andrew Lastowka recorded back-to-back run scoring singles later in the inning to make the score 6-2.

* After a Wildcats' run in the bottom of the sixth, Abington added to more runs to its total.  With one out in the inning, McCarty tripled to right field and then went on to score on a wild pitch.  Tim Petrucelli followed with a solo home run down the right field line to increase the lead to 8-3.

* Abington added a pair of runs in the ninth to make the score 10-4.  Fogel led the inning off with a base hit and eventually came around to score later in the inning on an error by the Wildcats.  McCarty, who reached base on an intentional walk, scored on a sacrifice fly by Morales.

* The Wildcats made things interesting in the bottom of the ninth with the bases loaded.  A walk by Jacob Carles forced in a run and then Dick followed with a two-run double to make the score 10-7. McCarty shifted to the mound and went on to retire the final two outs for the save without any further damage.
