Abington Closes Out Regular Season at St. Mary’s

St. Mary's City, Md. – The Penn State Abington men's tennis team dropped its final United East contest of the season with a 9-0 setback at St. Mary's College on Saturday afternoon at the Somerset Tennis Complex.  Despite the loss, the Nittany Lions officially clinched a postseason berth after Lancaster Bible College defeated Penn College this afternoon.

How It Happened
 
* St. Mary's opened the match with a 3-0 lead after taking all three doubles competitions.
 
* In singles action, freshman Andrew Brown went the distance in his second singles match with the Seahawks' Nier Nacua.  After dropping the first set, 6-2, Brown bounced back to take the second set by the score of 6-1.  However, Nacua came away with a close 10-7 decision in the third set tie-break.
 
All-Time Series
Today marked the first-ever meeting between Abington and St. Mary's.
 
Next Up
Abington returns to action next Saturday (April 30) as the Nittany Lions face St. Mary's in the semifinals of the United East Tournament.  More information on the tournament will be available early next week.
