How It Happened (Game 1)

* A six-run ninth inning by Berks turned out to be the difference in what turned out to be a pitching duel to the very end.  Briana Smith scored the game-winning run with a base hit for Berks to drive in Peyton Vivian who was placed on second base to start the inning.  Later in the inning, Susan Duncan cleared the bases with a three-run triple and later scored on a base hit that made the score 7-1.

* Prior to the ninth, both teams scored in the eighth after seven scoreless innings from both sides.  With Berks ahead 1-0, Abington tied the game when junior Maddie Duffy led the inning off with a double.  Freshman Gretchen Yanss, who was placed on second as part of the international tie-break rule, scored on the play to tie game at 1-1.

Inside the Box Score (Game 1)

* Yanss (4-7) held Berks hitless through the first four innings as she retired 12 straight to start the game.  She went the full nine innings while striking out five batters.

* Duffy went 1-for-3 for Abington with a run scoring double.

* For Berks, Briana Smith (13-3) earned the win as she went nine innings allowing one unearned run and striking out nine.

How It Happened (Game 2)

* The Abington offense exploded for eight runs in the third inning to take control of the game.  Abington took advantage of two errors by Berks to extend the inning.  After the first three batters reached base, junior Jenna Gorman and freshman Drew Liss recorded back-to-back run scoring singles before Yanss drove in a run with a sacrifice fly.  Later in the inning freshman Hailey Gamble recorded a two-run single with the bases loaded to give Abington a 10-5 lead.

* Berks scored two runs in the first and three runs in the second inning.  Abington countered with a run in the first thanks to a solo home run by Gamble. A run scoring hit by Duffy accounted for the team's run in the second, cutting the deficit to 5-2.

* Berks added a pair of runs in the sixth to inch closer to the Abington lead but 10-7 would be as close as they would get after a scoreless seventh.  Duncan and Arizona Shreck drove in runs for Berks in the sixth.

Inside the Box Score (Game 2)

* Sophomore Elyssa Bohr (10-5) picked up her team-leading 10th victory of the season after pitching four innings of relief.  Bohr limited Berks to just three hits and two unearned runs while striking out a pair.

* Gamble's first inning home run to dead-center field marked her first collegiate homer.  She finished the game 2-for-4 with two runs and three RBI.

* Duffy went 2-for-3 with one run and two RBI.

* Liss also had multiple hits as she finished 2-for-3 with two runs and an RBI.

* For Berks, Shreck finished the game 2-for-3 with three RBI and a run, while Vivian went 3-for-4 with two runs.
