Abington Drops United East Opener at Berks

Reading, Pa. – The Penn State Abington women's tennis team dropped its United East Conference (UEC) opener at Penn State Berks by the score of 6-3 on Tuesday afternoon at the Gring's Mill Tennis Courts.

How It Happened
 
* Abington jumped out to a 2-1 lead after doubles competitions after taking both first and third flights.  In first doubles, senior Michelle Ly and sophomore Emina Mulaosmanovic cruised to victory with an 8-0 triumph.  Sophomore Taylor LaPage and Melissa Flood teamed up at third doubles and came away with an 8-5 victory.
 
* Sophomore Tinatin Sadzaglishvili earned a point for Abington with a victory at second singles.  She defeated Berk's Madison Hetrick in straight sets, 6-1, 6-2.
 
* In singles, Berks took five of the six competitions to tally six points in the match win. 
 
All-Time Series
Today marked the 17th meeting between Abington and Berks since the start of the 2011-12 season.  Abington is now 8-9 versus Berks in that span.
 
Next Up
Abington returns to action on Saturday, April 9 as the Nittany Lions host Penn State Harrisburg in United East action. Match time is set for 1 p.m.
