Abington and Wilson Finish in 2-2 Draw

Abington, Pa. – The Penn State Abington women's soccer team finished in a 2-2 draw against visiting Wilson College in a non-conference contest on Saturday afternoon at Memorial Field.

How It Happened
 
* Freshman Emma Frasca gave Abington a 1-0 lead early in the first half after converting a penalty kick in the eighth minute for her second goal of the season.
 
* Just over 10 minutes later, Abington doubled its lead when junior Grace Burns scored her team-leading sixth goal of the season.  Burns was set up by Frasca for the score in the 19th minute. 
 
* Freshman goalkeeper Rachel Wilfrid made a key stop in the final seconds of the first half to preserve the two-goal lead heading into halftime.
 
* Wilson finally got on the board midway through the second half when Olivia Martin connected on a score in the 70th minute to make the score 2-1.
 
* In the 76th minute, Wilson tied the game at 2-2 when Halley Shaffer scored after being fed by Rachel Rodriguez. 
 
* Both team's had opportunities to break the tie in the final minute.  Wilfrid made another big stop in the 89th minute before her counterpart, Rebecca Marakovitz, made a save off a shot by Burns with 11 seconds remaining on the clock.
 
Inside the Box Score
 
* Frasca recorded a season-high three points off her goal and an assist.
 
* Burns' first half goal marked her sixth of the season as she leads the United East Conference in scoring. 
 
* Wilfrid, making her first collegiate start, made a season-high three saves in the tie. 
 
* Abington outshot Wilson by a 16-10 margin.  The Nittany Lions registered eight shots in each half.
 
All-Time Series
Today marked the ninth meeting between Abington and Wilson since the start of the 2011 season.  The Nittany Lions are now 8-0-1 versus the Phoenix in the all-time series.

Abington returns to action on Wednesday, Sept. 14 as the Nittany Lions travel to face Immaculata University in a non-conference contest.  Game time is set for 7 p.m.
