How It Happened

* Agolli recorded his first of three goals in the 17th minute after converting a penalty kick thanks to a foul by Gwynedd Mercy inside the box.  Agolli would go on to double Abington's lead less than two minutes later with his second goal of the game knocking in a shot from 20-yards out.  Freshman Tony Colon assisted on the score.

* Shortly after Abington added another score this time Agolli was on the other side of the goal assisting sophomore Brian Gibson with his first goal of the season.  A cross pass by Agolli led to a point-blank shot in front of the net for Gibson to give Abington a 3-0 lead in the 20th minute.

* Later in the half, Agolli struck again with this third goal of the game to record a hat-trick.  Agolli's third tally came in the 30th minute to increase the Nittany Lion advantage to 4-0.

* Abington's offense continued to roll in the opening half as sophomore Louie Lare scored his first collegiate goal after firing a shot from 30-yards out to make the score 5-0 in the 34th minute.

* Abington capped its scoring in the 89th minute when freshman Arlin Shehu scored his first career goal.

Inside the Box Score

* Abington outshot Gwynedd Mercy by a 32-6 margin as the defense limited the Griffins to just one first half shot.  The 32 shots and 15 on-goal were the most by the Nittany Lions this season.

* Agolli's hat-trick is the first for Abington since the 2019 season when Hernando Villamil scored four goals against Bryn Athyn College in the second game of the season.  Villamil also had a hat-trick later that season against Wells College.

* Agolli set a career-high with seven points in the game with his three goals and one assist.  Lare and Shehu each set career milestones as well connecting on their first collegiate goals.

* Junior Matt Sheldon, the United East Defensive Player of the Week, and sophomore Dan Detweiler combined for the shutout.  Sheldon occupied the net for the first 60 minutes, before giving way to Detweiler who was making his first career appearance.  Detweiler made two saves in 30 minutes of action to preserve the shutout.
