Abington Drops Conference Opener at Harrisburg

Middletown, Pa. – The Penn State Abington women's soccer team dropped its United East Conference (UEC) opener at Penn State Harrisburg by the score of 6-0 on Saturday afternoon at the Harrisburg Turf Field.

How It Happened
 
* Harrisburg jumped out to an early 1-0 lead when Serenity Hill scored the first of the team's three goals in the opening half.  Hill recorded her goal in the fifth minute as Harrisburg received goals by Sarah Toche-Manley (20') and Isabelle Toni (44') in the half.
 
* Harrisburg scored three more goals in the second half with Kylee Altland helping with all three.  Altland scored in the 48th minute and later in the half assisted on Abigail Frew's goal in the 85th minute.  Altland capped the scoring with her second goal in the 86th minute.
 
Inside the Box Score

* Senior Maria Tunney recorded 10 saves in the first half; one shy of her Abington career-high. 
 
* Freshman Rachel Wilfrid entered the game to the start the second half and totaled six saves in net to set a new season-high.
 
* Sophomore Madison McDowell tallied the team's lone shot in the game.

All-Time Series
Today marked the sixth meeting between Abington and Harrisburg since the start of the 2011 season.  Abington is now 2-4-0 versus Harrisburg in the all-time series.
 
Next Up
Abington returns to action on Monday, Sept. 19 as the Nittany Lions travel to face Cairn University in a non-conference contest.  Game time is set for 4 p.m.
