Abington Falls to Elizabethtown in Fall Season Opener

Abington, Pa. – The Penn State Abington women's tennis team dropped its fall season opener by the score of 8-1 against Elizabethtown College on Saturday at the Abington Tennis Courts on campus.

How It Happened
 
* Elizabethtown went up 3-0 in the match after taking all three doubles competitions.  Olivia Richards and Gabriella Palladini won 8-3 at first doubles, while Kaylee Mustard/Morgan Bleicher and Adrianna Burmeister/Haley Bishop won at second and third doubles respectively, 8-1.
 
* In first singles, Richards came away with a straight sets victory over junior Elizabeth Turner by the scores of 6-3, 6-3. 
 
* Junior Tinatin Sadzaglishvili came up short in the first set against Mustard, 6-4.  Mustard took the point with a 6-1 victory in the second set.
 
* Bishop (6-1, 6-0), Bleicher (6-1, 6-0) and Burmeister (6-1, 6-2) picked up points for the Blue Jays at third, fourth and fifth singles respectively.
 
* Abington earned the point at sixth singles by default.
 
All-Time Series
Today marked the first-ever meeting between Abington and Elizabethtown.
 
Next Up
Abington returns to action on Wednesday, Sept. 21 as the Nittany Lions host Bryn Mawr College in a non-conference contest.  Match time is set for 4 p.m.
