Abington Drops Non-Conference Match Up at Montclair State

Montclair, N.J. – The Penn State Abington men's soccer team dropped a non-conference contest at Montclair State University by the score of 3-0 on Tuesday night at the MSU Soccer Park at Pittser Field.

How It Happened
 
* The game's first shot turned into the game's first goal for the home team.  The Red Hawks' Justin Goldberg tallied his first goal of the season in the eighth minute of action to give Montclair State a 1-0 advantage. 
 
* In the 39th minute the Red Hawks doubled their lead when Ian Chesney recorded his third goal of the season to make the score 2-0.
 
* Montclair State struck once more this time in the early minutes of the second half.  Anthony Viola connected on his first goal of the season in the 51st minute as the Red Hawks extended the lead to 3-0.

* Junior goalkeeper Matt Sheldon set a career-high in saves as he totaled nine in the game.
 
* Junior Mike Thomas and sophomore Roan Vadakan each had a shot-on goal for the Nittany Lions.
 
All-Time Series
Tonight marked the first-ever meeting between Abington and Montclair State.
 
Next Up
Abington returns to action on Saturday, Sept. 24 as the Nittany Lions resume United East Conference action with a road match up with Morrisville State College.  Game time is set for 3:30 p.m.
