How It Happened

* It was a classic back-and-forth matchup between Abington and Wells in the second half.  The final 20 minutes featured 20 lead changes with neither team holding an advantage greater than two possessions.  In fact, the largest lead of the second half was four points held by Wells twice with the latter coming with less than two minutes to play in regulation as the Express led 64-60.

* Prior to that, Abington grabbed the lead at 58-57 when senior Alex Podolski drained a three-pointer at the 5:47 mark.  After a defensive stop, the Nittany Lions increased their lead to 60-57 when senior Brian Randolph III came through with a basket.

* Two possessions later, the Express tied the game with a three-pointer from Ty McBride with 4:13 to play.  Wells would follow with four more unanswered points to push its mini run to 7-0 as Terrance Clayton-Murphy capped the run with a pair of free throws.

* Senior Alex Salata III connected on a three-pointer to make the score 64-63 on Abington's next possession before Wells scored a jumper by Billy McCrae to bump its lead back to three at 66-63 with a minute to play. After a missed opportunity, the Nittany Lions forced a turnover as Randolph grabbed the loose ball and found sophomore Lexuus Fasce for a quick layup to make the score 66-65.

* Forced to foul, Abington sent Wells to the line with 12 seconds left on the clock.  Clayton-Murphy made the first attempt but missed the second as Fasce grabbed a key defensive board to give Abington a chance to tie or win the game. With about seven seconds left on the clock outside a timeout, the Nittany Lions were unable to get off a clear shot as a three-pointer at the buzzer fell short.
