Abington Falls to Harrisburg in United East Action

Middletown, Pa. –  A fourth quarter run propelled Penn State Harrisburg to a 74-58 victory over the Penn State Abington women's basketball team in United East Conference (UEC) action on Saturday afternoon at the Capital Union Building.

How It Happened
 
* Harrisburg led 55-52 early in the fourth quarter and went on to use a 19-4 run over a seven-minute span to take control of the final frame.  Kendis Butler capped Harrisburg's run with a three-pointer that gave the home team a 74-56 lead with 1:39 to play in regulation.  Harrisburg outscored Abington, 19-8, in the final quarter.
 
* Abington trailed by as many as 13 points at the 6:29 mark of the third quarter with Harrisburg holding a 45-32 advantage.  The Nittany Lions rallied and cut the deficit down to five points by the end of the quarter thanks to a 18-10 rally over the final six minutes of the frame.  Senior Angela Sanders capped the scoring in the quarter with a pair of free throws in the final seconds to make it a 55-50 game heading into the fourth quarter.
 
* Abington came within one possession of tying the game after scoring the first basket in the fourth quarter.  However, after making the score 55-52, Harrisburg went on its 19-4 run to dash any hopes of a come-from-behind victory by Abington.
 
Inside the Box Score
 
* Sanders recorded her third straight double-double and sixth of the season with a 14-point/10-rebound performance.  It marked her 17th career double-double.  She also dished out four assists and tallied four steals on defense.
 
* Senior Cassie Tavormina scored a game-high 19 points setting a new season-high.  She also recorded five rebounds and had three steals.
 
* Junior Camille Fleming also scored in double-figures as she finished with a season-high 11 points to go along with six rebounds. 
 
* For Harrisburg, Butler led the team with 19 points, while Ciani Redd-Howard recorded a double-double with 11 points and a game-high 16 rebounds.
 
All-Time Series
Today marked the ninth meeting between Abington and Harrisburg in the team's NCAA Division III era beginning with the 2011-12 season.  Abington is now 1-8 versus Harrisburg in that span.
 
Next Up
Abington returns to action on Monday, Jan. 9 as the Nittany Lions head across town to face Bryn Athyn College in a non-conference contest.  Game time is set for 8 p.m.
